Competitive Landscape

Ryu holds a weaker position in SF6 compared to other characters. Despite having a reliable projectile and anti-airs, his overall damage output and mobility are overshadowed by newer characters with more versatile and potent abilities. This places Ryu at a disadvantage in both neutral and combo situations.

Value Proposition

While Ryu retains his classic Hadoken and Shoryuken moves, his overall value has diminished in SF6. His light attacks lack range and damage, and his heavy attacks have slower startup and recovery frames. Additionally, his V-Skill and V-Trigger options are less effective than those of other characters, offering limited utility and damage potential.

Viability in Different Game Modes

Ryu’s viability varies across different game modes. In Survival Mode, his consistency and reliable projectiles can help him clear waves of enemies. However, in other modes such as Ranked and Casual Matches, where character variety and matchup knowledge are more prevalent, Ryu’s limitations become more apparent. His lack of mobility and burst damage make him less effective against characters with strong zoning or pressure tools.
